God is good!

Silverwalk is a small, private, licensed dog sanctuary in Cape Girardeau County, MO. It specializes in Beagles, other hounds and senior dogs. There are always dogs needing adoption and sponsorship. Please see our website Silverwalk Beagle & Hound Sanctuary, Inc. for more information about Silverwalk and our dogs needing homes.

God is good.  The rope held, the knot held and we have moved on.  Scout took a few days at the spa, is now home and I am paying more attn to his need for structure.  I have other dogs who can wing it easily; Scoutie Pie needs his routine and his spot, which I need to remember :).  Better yet, Winston was adopted and went home Tuesday!  Yeah, Winston!  Bailey is still here - doing better out of her crate but what a nose - I have plans for her to go tracking one of these days.

Silverwalk had its first board meeting today.  Exciting ideas, good participation with board members who are willing to fund raise which drives me crazy - is reason for board - multiple talented people sharing for a common cause.   More to come in future re: SW future and plans which almost immediately include a new door to the breezeway and some varied manner of fencing to facilitate the pack needs.

Puppies, we have puppies!!  Two Dachshund puppies about 5-6 mon. old. both male, hope to be neutered and up to date on shots next week.  They are about tweenie size - meaning too large to be mini's and too small to be standards: they are in-between!  Let me just say they are movers and shakers!

A Knot in my Rope on which to Hang

I have tied a knot to my rope and am hanging on.  Scout, a dog I really like but who has "quirks" tried to mangle a Beagle today.  Two weeks ago, he bit my senior lab mix Agnes (who would really appreciate a home for her final years away from this maddening crowd).  Two puncture wounds in her head needing stitches.  I fear I need to euth him as I have no alternative at the moment :(.  He has had several inquiries over the two years or so he has been here but no one wants a noisy dog - and Scout's nickname is "Sir Barksalot."  So, I will call my vet in the morning.  This has been coming on for a long time - I just did not want it to be :(.  Winston, my foster Black and Tan, also needs to move on to another foster; I have too many dogs and he needs and deserves one on one attn more than I can give him.  Winston is very big, very thin and very personable.  This is a very poor photo of him - he won't stay still!  I brought home two Doxie puppies who are charming.  They like to ride in your arms together!  They are about 6 months old - hopefully, they will find homes quickly - and perhaps together!  I am calling them Abbot and Costello since they are quite the comedy team.  Of course, their arrival sparked a brouhaha but actually, things settled down more quickly than I thought; the other hounds were mostly interested in the food I had put in their crate - surprise - HA.  So, a happy puppy day turned into mayhem which has been increasing.  I just cannot handle this many dogs...and I need to be honest about that.  Have a good weekend.  I will be going back to work for Saturday and Sunday nights.
