Sump Pumps and Gratitude

We are all in this situation.  We may not have water in our yards and fields but we know people who do.  So far, Silverwalk still has power.  Rain expected Saturday afternoon.  Prayers are being said from Silverwalk as much as any raindrops.   I have boarded out the Coonhounds - am losing my yard to water percentage and they needed more room - or at least to be less distraught with all the changes, neighbors walking to and fro, vehicles where they just don't belong :).  Farrah is enjoying the water - she is a lab disguised as a hound mix.   Margie gets in to; so did Hoss in the photo below.

Front yard to Field Lake - water higher now

See the truck?  Water now up to there

Neighbors' boats - now include a pontoon!
Margie, Hoss - enjoy the water!
Field Lake and covered road

We are lucky - even those needing to get to home by boat.  We have homes.  No one has died from our storms.  We did not have the tornadoes in our area.  Are we more blessed?  No, but certainly we are blessed - neighbors check on neighbors; friends have called and emailed me to be sure we are OK.   I heard people at work checking on colleagues, not concerned over "tardiness" when someone was dealing with water and very diverse routes to get in.   Today, I live in gratitude and joy.  I watched a very small girl "help" her mom unload her basket this evening.  She even helped with the debit card.  She was charming, innocent and gave those of us waiting as well as the checker a genuine smile for the evening.  Have a good night.

Allie - keep the faith; saw you had quite the time.  Sorry to hear.  Prayers for both you, Kelly and Christy.

Wow! That is a lot of standing water. Bella would like to come in with Hoss to play. Daisy would prefer to be boarded cause getting wet is NOT her thing!

I'm glad most of your place has been spared.

Thanks for your comments, prayers and concern. Friends came over today to raise my washer & dryer up out of the basement water. What an excuse to not do laundry! Farrah also loves to swim. Daisy, you and Sadie would do well together while Hoss and Bella played in the water :)!

First, just wanted to say thank you so much for your lovely message (sorry it's taken me so long to return your visit) and for spreading the word about our dancing contest!

And second - how awful about the terrible storms. We had heard about it on the news, of course, but it never seems to hit home until you see what it does to your friends. Am glad that you're all OK and hope that things return to some semblance of normality soon.

best wishes,
Hsin-Yi (& slobbers from Honey the Great Dane)
